Vancouver 2010 Olympic
and Paralympic Winter Games
In April 2009, Contemporary Security Canada (CSC) was selected by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC); to provide Games Security Screening for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Backed by a team of over 200 project management staff, CSC was tasked with delivering airport style security screening at the perimeter of 27 venues across Vancouver and Whistler, ensuring the Games were secured 24 hours a day, 7 days a week between January 10 and March 24, 2010.
This venture involved the recruitment, training and licensing of over 5,000 security personnel, with specialist in-house training provided by CSC for all Supervisors, Screeners and X-Ray Operators. In addition CSC were required to effectively plan and implement a complex operations strategy to uniform, accommodate, transport, schedule, feed, and deploy the workforce.
This customized program not only ensured the safety and integrity of the 3 million athletes, volunteers and spectators to the Games, but also ensured that the highest levels of customer service were achieved - all within just over 8 months.
